Avant Classica is the brainchild of Evalyn Legried, a passionate musician and educator, and proud ADHD-er.
Evalyn was driven to create Avant Classica by her insatiable desire to connect with people through music. To fulfill this desire for connection, Evalyn aims to bring Avant Classica to audiences and young people all across Australia, creating opportunities for inclusive, equitable access to world-class live performances and high-quality music education for everyone and anyone!
Evalyn, alongside fellow Avant Classica violinist Joanne, is proudly neurodiverse. Despite the setbacks that she has faced in her life, Evalyn believes that her particular brand of neurodivergence has been a strength in her music-making and relating to audiences and students alike. Through her lived experience, supported by the findings of recent neuro-musical research, Evalyn believes that high-quality music education has the power to transform lives. Evalyn hopes to spread this message far and wide, making music and meaningful connections with as many people as she can, to support growth and wellness in communities all across Australia.
"The human race is full of passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.
But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."
- Robin Williams, Dead Poets Society (1989)
